Okay, so I have a big big favor to ask of anyone who stumbles upon my blog! My local radio station is holding a contest to give away front row tickets to see Brad Paisley, as well as backstage passes to meet him! Anyone who knows me knows I am a country music fanatic, and this would be absolutely wonderful. To win the competition, I had to create a new Myspace page and basically have to get as many friends as possible! So, if you see this and you have a Myspace, please go here and add me as a friend! I have quite a bit of ground to make up before the contest ends Nov 27th at 10am, so I'll take all the help I can get!

Wow, it's almost 4 years later! Suffice it to say, my blogging never really took off, lol. I guess the best thing to do would be a then and now. October of 2003 - where on earth was I!? I guess I had been with the accounting firm for almost a year and was getting ready to take my CPA exam for the first time. I managed to pass the exam and get my license by January 2005. Hey, it takes a while when you have to retake a part twice and you can only take it every 3 months! I stayed at the accounting firm for about another year or so, and then finally decided to move on. Of course, there was lots and lots of stuff that happened in that 2-2 1/2 years, but at this point in my life, I don't know that it's worth rehashing.
January 2006 would definitely be what I would call the "turning point" in my life. I was dissatisfied at the accounting firm and wanted something new. My best friend's grandmother happened to pass along that a finance director position was open with the school district she worked in. I took a chance, applied, and got the job offer a week later. It was probably the scariest decision of my life to make that leap from just a senior accountant at a public firm to being in charge of the finances for a school district with 5,000 students and nearly 900 employees. I went from auditing other people's books to managing a 35+ million dollar budget. It was a scary step, but I decided to go for the challenge as the benefits, pay, and hours were all much better than I was getting at the firm. From that point on, my life has been a bit of whirwind!
February 13, 2006 was my first day of work at my new job, and my first date with an old co-worker. My accounting firm (the younger staff anyway) had a going away party at a local bar and pub, and the evening (and the alcohol) sparked some flirtation between me and a co-worker. It was kind of funny, because he and I had actually known each other for about 4 years - my accounting firm audited his bank and through a series of events, he had actually become my co-worker about 3 months before I left. In one of those things that you just know is right, we pretty much spent every second together we could from our first date on, and were engaged six months later.
This last year has been hectic and crazy and wonderful and stressful. From planning the wedding to adjusting to becoming a part-time stepmother to two wonderful children to getting a district on the verge of financial crisis in the clear, I sometimes feel like I haven't had a chance to breathe! We were married a month ago this date, we've moved into a new apartment with room for everyone, and now we get to settle in and hopefully enjoy our newlywed time together! I'm sure that if I ever manage to getting around to posting on this blog again, it won't be anything particularly funny or exciting like my friend Jessica always seems to write in her, but hopefully someone out there will enjoy reading it. Since none of my friends know this blog exists, I'm curious to see if they find it. Anyway, there is the brief history of Stacey for the past four years. It's crazy how time flies when you're enjoying life!

Hey there everyone! My friend Jessica introduced me to the blogspot, and it seems like a great place to sort through one's thoughts (and maybe provide some entertainment or insight to someone else!). So, I thought that I would give it a try myself...although the last thing I need right now is something else to distract me from all the things I should be doing.
Well, I just wanted to get this thing started, but it's late and work comes early in the morning. So, I will begin my adventures into analyzing the wonderful male/female relationship at another date, as well as updating everyone with the recent events in my life. Goodnight and sweet dreams!
